Adi Ekatama

He established a digital group in his previous role, which has developed a number of initiatives that has been driving Kompas Gramedia digital transformation. Having started his career in Deloitte Indonesia's Financial Advisory group, he is currently responsible for the overall operational oversight of Gramedia's digital division that develops and manages all of Gramedia's digital products and initiatives. He is also a budding auteur, having produced a short film based on Eka Kurniawan's novel, "Cinta Tak Ada Mati" in 2019; the short film, "No One is Crazy in This Town" has been screened in major international film festivals, such as Sundance Film Festival, and it won Piala Citra, as the best short film in Festival Film Indonesia. His first feature film, titled "Photocopier," broke the record, winning 12 Piala Citra in the 2021 Festival Film Indonesia, and now is a Netflix Original and had its worldwide release in January 2022.

Alvin PANG, PhD is a poet, writer, editor  and translator whose broad creative practice spans over two decades of literary and related activities in Singapore and elsewhere. Featured in the Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry in English and the Penguin Book of the Prose Poem, his writing has been translated into more than twenty languages, including volumes in Croatian, Macedonian, Slovene and Swedish. His latest titles include What Happened: Poems 1997-2017 (2017) and Uninterrupted time (2019). For contributions to the literary arts, he has received the Young Artist Award, Singapore Youth Award and the JCCI Education Award, among other accolades. He is a Fellow of the Iowa Writing Program (2002), and has received a Civitella Raneiri Fellowship (2020). He is a judge of the 2022 Dublin Literary Award.

The Editor-in-Chief of the public policy journal ETHOS, Dr Pang also serves on international advisory boards such as the International Poetry Studies Institute at the University of Canberra, the peer-reviewed journal Axon: Creative Explorations and Rabbit: Journal of non-fiction poetry. In 2020, he completed a PhD in writing with RMIT University, exploring his research interests in the possibilities of literary practice conducted across multiple languages, genres, careers and communities. He was appointed to the honorary position of Adjunct Professor of RMIT University in 2021.

Afu is the initiator of @thinkpolicyid, a community of young professionals with a mission to encourage cross-sector collaboration for more data-driven and empathetic public policies. Afu also makes various video essays through Frame & Sentences, a YouTube channel that aims to encourage critical thinking skills through discussing social and political issues.

As an Environmental Economist, Afu has conducted various research and analysis of public policies to promote sustainable development in Indonesia, particularly related to the management of low-carbon natural resources towards the welfare of society.

Afu's educational background is a Master's Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations from the University of Indonesia. At Harvard, Afu had represented the campus in the Shaping Future Governments: Global University Challenge competition and with his team won first place. A trailblazer in the global publishing scene, Bodour Al Qasimi is creating a positive impact on
the world by pushing IPA’s agenda on freedom to publish and intellectual property rights.
In 2019, Bodour established PublisHer – an informal networking body that seeks to increase
the number of women in leadership roles within the publishing industry.

As the CEO and founder of Kalimat Publishing Group, she has been an avid advocate of the
role of books and literacy to enlighten children.

Bodour also chaired the committee of Sharjah World Book Capital 2019—an honor awarded
by UNESCO. Over decades, her exemplary work to further Sharjah’s contributions as a hub for
reading, literacy and culture, has culminated in a global recognition for the emirate.

Bodour has a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from Cambridge University
and a Master’s degree in Medical Anthropology from University College London.

Candra Darusman

President, Musicians Union Of Indonesia

Candra Darusman is the current President of the Musicians Union of Indonesian. An accomplished jazz pianist, he is the composer of the S.E. Asia Games opening song when Jakarta was the host city and the G20 theme song of 2022.

Graduated from the University of Indonesia, Mr. Darusman taught
 at his alma mater before branching off to pursue his other interests. He is the first CEO of Indonesia’s first Collective Management Organisation (CMO). Just prior to his retirement, he held a position with WIPO Singapore Office. 

From 1986 to 1991 he served as Director to the Indonesian Guild of Composers. From 1994 to 1996 he was appointed as a member of the Indonesian National Copyright Council by presidential decree. He served as Director of the Indonesian Musicians Cooperative (KOSMINDO), a small and medium enterprise cooperative with the task of seeking venture capital for artist-entrepreneurs. During the same period Mr. Darusman was also an active member of the Anti-Piracy Coalition of the Indonesian copyright industries.

Catherine Uwimana

Consultant In Children'S Book Publishing And Book Chain Development (Rwanda)

Catherine Uwimana is a book chain development professional and creative with over ten years of work experience in the book, reading, and innovation project management. Her past and current work included approaches such as strengthening the book value chain and private sector engagement. She led the Children's Book Initiative (CBI) in Rwanda and Senegal from 2015 to 2021. The program encouraged in-country title development and access through active private sector engagement and cross-sector collaboration to address the whole book chain's systemic issues and promote sustainable practices within the book chain. Catherine contributed to the development of the Rwanda National Book Policy and the Global Book Alliance/ ADEA-led Africa Continental Framework on Book and Reading Policies. She participated, presented, and talked in book publishing working groups and conferences such as the CIES 2019 and 2021, Sharjah Publishers Conference, Bologna Children's Book Fair, Global Reading Network's technical working groups, and mEducation Alliance Symposium. She has also designed and managed innovation challenges involving edtech and disability inclusion startups working with children and youth. She is a recipient of 2018 Save the Children President's Award for Best Team (RCBI team) and won a Bronze Award at the 2012 Rwanda International Conference on Technology in Education. Lastly, Catherine is a children's book writer and aspiring reading entrepreneur. She wrote and presented on the book and reading sector in Rwanda and Senegal. She continues to explore new ways to make books and learning more accessible and fun for all children and adults in Africa. She is now pursuing an MBA degree and is a consultant working with different organizations in Rwanda, Senegal, and Tanzania.

Elena Pasoli

Elena Pasoli is the Director of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair(BCBF), member of the Executive Committee of the ItalianCentre for Book and Reading and of the Executive Committee of Ibby - International Board on Books for Young People. She coordinates many international activities, such as the co-organization of the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF), and the tours of children’s illustrations exhibitions in more than 40 countries. Under her leadership the Bologna book fair was awarded the 2018 international Eric Carle Honor prize. In 2021, Elena expanded the BCBF brand with BolognaBookPlus - aimed at the general publishing market - under the guest directorship of Jacks Thomas. Elena has a degree in Classic Literature and is an avid reader and consumer of visual and percorming arts.

Flavia Bravin

Flavia Bravin, is the head of Saber and Partner at Cogna Group, the largest publishing and educational group in Brazil. Flavia Helena Alves Bravin holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of São Paulo, and also a master's and a PhD in the same institution. She has a fellowship at Frankfurt Book Fair and studied International Management at Stockholm University and Leading Change at London Business School. She is currently head of three business units at Cogna: one for books and educational content for public schools, other (Saraiva) for Higher Education and B2B Solutions and the third (Red Balloon) for Children´s English. She is also president of the Board of Minha Biblioteca, the largest Brazilian higher ed content platform. She teaches Leadership at MBA programs and has been a very active member at publishing associations in Brazil (such as former president of Brazil Reprographic Rights Association) and in the world (such as Editorial Director for the board of IFRRO).

Hugo Setzer is, since 1990, CEO of Manual Moderno, which is a leading publishing house in the fields of medicine and psychology in Spanish language. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the National University in Mexico and an MBA degree from the IPADE Business School.
After many years of participating in the Mexican Publishers Association, CANIEM, since 1995, where he has served on its executive board on several occasions and was vice-president from 2004 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2013, Hugo is currently the president of the Association.
He has had a longstanding involvement in the International Publishers Association, where he served on its Executive Committee from 2004 to 2010 and from 2013 to 2018, then as vice-president for the term 2017-2018 and president for 2019-2020.

Jannie Jeppesen

Jannie Jeppesen has been CEO for five years at Swedish Edtech Industry, a trade association for edtech companies in Sweden. Sweden has been digitalizing the public education sector during the last thirty years and Jannie has extensive experience of working with digital competence, pedagogy and management, both as an educator and as head of professional development during this groundbreaking era. As principal, she was awarded the "Innovative Headmaster 2012" title in Sweden. Today she is appointed commissioner to the Swedish Government's strategic cooperation program on Skills and Lifelong Learning and has advised the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education as a member of their Innovation Advisory Board. The European Edtech Alliance (EEA) was established in 2021 as an umbrella organization of European associations connecting the European edtech ecosystem and representing more than 2400 edtech companies was co-founded by Jannie Jeppesen who today is an active board member.

Dr. Jessica Sänger is a lawyer and Director for European and International Affairs at Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, the German Publishers and Booksellers Association. She chairs the IPA’s Copyright Committee and is a frequent speaker on copyright, freedom of expression and industry-related topics in various fora. Ms. Sänger represents Börsenverein in IPA, FEP and EIBF. From 2008 until 2016, she was Legal Counsel and Deputy Head of the Legal Department of Börsenverein, where she was in charge of European and international advocacy for publishers. She studied Law at Exeter (U.K.) and Mainz (Germany) and completed her First and Second State Examinations in Law in Mainz, completing her Doctorate in competition law in 2014. In 2005, she was a trainee case handler at the Media Unit of DG Competition in the European Commission. Before joining Börsenverein, Ms. Sänger was manager of the postgraduate LL.M programme in Media Law at Mainzer Medieninstitut and Research Assistant to Professor Dörr at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz. Since 2006 he is the CEO of Carlsen Publishing, the market leading publishing house for children´s and young adult publishing, comics, manga and cartoons. Carlsen is part of the Swedish Bonnier Group, one of the leading trade publishing groups in the world, especially if it comes to children publishing, with several publishing houses in Germany, UK, Sweden, Finland and Poland.

John H. Mcglynn

Co-Founder Of The Lontar Foundation

John H. McGlynn is a co-founder of the Lontar Foundation, established in 1987 for the purpose of introducing Indonesia to the world through literary translations. Through Lonar, McGlynn has ushered into print close to 250 books on Indonesian literature and culture containing translations of literary work by more than 650 Indonesian authors. Because of Lontar’s work, Indonesian literature can be taught anywhere in the world through the medium of English. Also through Lontar, McGlynn initiated the “On the Record” film documentation program which has thus far produced 60 documentary films on Indonesian writers and more than 30 films on Indonesian performance traditions. As the translator of several dozen publications himself, he has garnered much international praise for his work.

Let’s start with a quote from Joanna Prior, MD of Penguin General Books, “Any suggestion that the physical book is doomed can definitely be refuted.” Yes! This is true. The book has an exciting future. At the heart of that future is the “Triangle of Expertise”: a partnership between publisher, print service provider and technology solution provider. I bring Canon’s technology solutions, but it is through collaboration that we will all shape our collective future.

It is not about simply prolonging the life of books, but giving them a new life, engaging with readers and keeping them holding, reading and loving the printed book. How? Technology is not a threat. It is part of the solution. It allows us to engage with changing habits. All generations now consume content differently. My role at Canon is to explore these changes and create new processes to help publishers and print service providers drive this transformation. For example, one new model is “on demand production”. But there are others.

Change is coming, as always, but it can be shaped, planned for and embraced. It is exciting for the whole industry – publishers to printers, retailers and readers – as we explore the new developments in digital production, content creation and physical books and how they increasingly work together. We focus on collaboration for transformation. This another aspect of my role. This transformation is explored in the annual Future Book Forum. This is the world’s largest gathering of book publishers and printers, exploring the best new ideas for innovation and growth. Enabled by Canon, the event is inspiring, practical and interactive.

As a technology solution provider, I have my role to play, working with publishers and print service providers. The book has a rich future. We plan to shape it, direct it and write its next chapter. Join us and add your voice to our collective future.

Juergen Boos trained as a publisher at Herder Verlag (Freiburg) in the early 1980s and has degrees in both Marketing and Organisational Theory. He has held management positions at Droemer Knaur Verlag (Munich), Carl Hanser Verlag (Munich), as well as Springer Science and Business Media (today Springer Science) and John Wiley & Sons (Weinheim). He became President and CEO of the Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH (Frankfurt Book Fair) in 2005 and is President of LITPROM (Society for the Promotion of African, Asian and Latin American Literature) and Managing Director of LitCam (Frankfurter Buchmesse Literacy Campaign).
On 20 November 2013, he was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art. In January 2017, Juergen Boos received an honorary degree from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. In February 2018, he was conferred the cultural distinction of “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres“ (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) at the French embassy in Berlin.He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of Sheikh Zayed Book Award and a member of Akademie Deutscher Buchpreis (German Book Prize Academy).

Karine is a Business Manager graduate from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP), in São Paulo, Brazil, and also Master in Publishing Business from Fundação Instituto de Adminstração (FIA), in São Paulo, Brazil.
She is the Managing Partner and Publishing Director at Girassol Brasil Edições, a 22 years old Children’s Book Publisher in Brazil. She has been in the publishing industry for almost 29 years now.
After two terms as President at the Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) she had dedicated her efforts for one term as President of Instituto Pro Livro (IPL), a non-profit Civil Society Organization of Public Interest, a NGO dedicated to develop reading and literacy aspects in Brazil.
Karine was part of the Directive Board of the National Book and Reading Plan in Brazil (PNLL), a set of programs in the book industry, promoting reading habits, literature and developing libraries in Brazil, undertaken by the State.
Afterwards, Karine was part of the Board of Curators of Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, a non-profit NGO who’s dedicated to inclusion of people with visual impairments, through access to education and culture. She was also the Chair of the Board of Directors at DNA, a subsidiary company of Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, specialized in providing rehabilitation services, special education, low vision clinic and Employability programs.
Karine is still part of the Board of Directors at CBL working on international projects aimed to develop presence and knowledge of Brazilian authors abroad.
She was also elected a member of the Executive Committee of the International Publishers Association (IPA) for two terms and then for Vice President in 20219 under the Presidency of Bodour Al Qasimi.

Lis has worked at Hodder Education for nearly thirty years, and has headed up the division for the past nine years. Previous to that she worked at Routledge as a social sciences commissioning editor. Luis GonzáLez

Luis González Martín is Managing Director of GSR Foundation (Spain) and member of the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee of Spanish Association of Foundations as well as of Content Innovation Council (the think tank for the European Cultural Industries). Before his current work at FGSR (since 2004) his career includes previous positions, as senior civil servant, at different Ministries from 1992 to 2004. During his period at Ministry of Culture, was responsible of department for the Promotion of Publishing industry, Reading and Spanish Literature where created the first National Plan for the Promotion of Reading 2001-2004. He holds a Bachelor in Law (UAM) and Master in Fiscal Law and HR Law consulting (UAM) and his further training includes Senior Civil Servants Selective Course (INAP), Fast Streamers Course at Civil Service College (London), Senior Directives Program (INAP) and Global Society Seminar (Harvard U.) among others. He is member of the Spanish Senior Civil Administrators Corps since 1992 and is honoured with the membership in the Order C.D.S.R. Peñafort for outstanding services to the Spanish legal system.
Among different initiatives Luis González launched internet projects such as Lecturalab, Lectyo, Renodo, Lectylab or Canal Lector. He founded Readmagine in 2005, the international event on innovation within the publishing industry and an experimental program for the creative industries (videogaming and coding school), as well as Casa del Lector, the International Centre for R&D of reading (Madrid). He is frequent lecturer and speaker at several universities, business schools and book fairs during the last 25 years. He is also author or co-author of several books and articles.

Maarten Verboom

President, Daisy Consortium (Netherlands)

Maarten Verboom’s entire career has been in the field of accessible information for people with a print disability. Since 2006 Maarten has worked as CEO for Dedicon, the largest producer and provider of accessible information for people with a print disability in the Netherlands. In previous roles he worked as Head of Marketing and Research & Development at Dedicon and its predecessors.
In 2001 Maarten joined the board of Directors of the global DAISY Consortium. In 2018 he was elected as Treasurer, and from July 2019 Maarten has served as President.
Building relationships and co-operation with publishers has been a recurring theme in Maarten’s career. He worked together with the Dutch Publishers Association (Mediafederatie) to develop the agreement between the Dutch Publishers Association and producers and providers of accessible information in the Netherlands. Maarten is one of the initiators of the ‘roundtable’ in the Netherlands where publishers, organisations of visually impaired people, schools, Ministry of Education, the National Library and Dedicon are represented. The goal of this roundtable is to foster and promote inclusive publishing.
In his role as President of the DAISY Consortium Maarten is an advocate for worldwide equal access to information and knowledge regardless of disability.

Michiel Kolman, Dr

Dr. Michiel Kolman is Senior VP and Academic Ambassador at Elsevier and former President of the International Publishers Association (IPA) where he now chairs Inclusive Publishing and Literacy. Michiel also serves on the Federation of European Publishers (FEP) board.

During his tenure as president the IPA launched the SDG Book Club together with the UN and supported by key players across the book industry. More recently he was instrumental in launching the SDG Publishers Compact, another IPA – UN collaboration.

Since joining Elsevier in 1995, he has held various core publishing roles in Amsterdam and Tokyo. He launched one of the first online journals in the industry in 1996: New Astronomy. Michiel was Managing Director in Frankfurt, Germany. For 10 years, he spearheaded academic relations for Elsevier, building up a global network of ambassadors engaged in strategic discussions with research leaders. Today he continues to engage with research and government leaders in his role as Academic Ambassador for Elsevier. He is currently driving sustainability and climate action at Elsevier and across our industry.

Prior to Elsevier, he worked for Wolters Kluwer in a division that is now part of Springer Nature. He holds a degree from Leiden University in the Netherlands and a PhD in astrophysics from Columbia University in New York, where he studied with a Fulbright scholarship.

Michiel is actively engaged on Diversity & Inclusion at Elsevier and across the industry. He is co-chair of Workplace Pride supporting LGBTIQ+ workplace inclusion internationally. At Elsevier he is the executive sponsor of Elsevier Pride and was listed two years in a row in the Financial Times’ Top 100 ranking of most influential LGBT senior executives. He supports inclusive publishing, e.g. through the Accessible Books Consortium at WIPO where he served several years as vice-chair.

With experience in branding, advertising, radio programming and presenting, and connections with leading international book fairs, Mohamad has organised and hosted panel discussions on trending topics of the Publishing Industry in Dubai, Sharjah, London and Frankfurt. His research on trends and tendencies of the publishing industry in the Arab markets is a comparative study that will be released in early 2023 and reproduced every two years.

Najelaa Shihab got her Bachelor and Master's degree from Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia majoring in developmental and educational psychology. After she started her career as a teaching staff at the same campus, she decided to establish Sekolah Cikal in 1999. Cikal is currently located in 9 locations in various cities in Indonesia, serving thousands of students - from preschool to high school, and also Kampus Guru Cikal.

Najelaa Shihab initiated a couple of education organizations that focuses on digital learning such as Inibudi.org, a non-profit foundation that distributes online and offline learning videos on various subjects, professions, and education level, in 2012; an online platform that curates movies that can be used as learning resources in school context called Sinedu.id in 2016. In 2019 Elaa founded both a dgitally-integrated learning Sekolah.mu and Sekolah Murid Merdeka. She also founded Talentics, an assessment platform used by HR leaders and employers for recruitment and talent management, in 2019.
Not only that, Elaa initiated her latest platform in 2020, called Karier.mu. An education platform for jobseekers that provides wide range of courses for aspired entrepreneur, fresh graduates, and experienced professionals. Its method provides end to end journey for the users from assessment, learning courses, bootcamp, and coaching, to job recommendation and talent sourching.

Her smash hit novel OUT (Kodansha, 1997) became the first work to be translated into English and other languages. OUT was also short-listed for the 2004 MWA Edgar Allan Poe Award in the Best Novel Category, which made Kirino the first Japanese writer to be nominated for this major literary award. Her other works are now under way to be translated and published around the world. She continues to enthusiastically write in a range of interesting genres.

Kirino focuses on gender inequality from feminist viewpoint, economic disparity, child abuse, and various themes that always embrace sharp issues, and receives acclaim for her unique perspective toward society.

She is the president of the Japan P.E.N. Club since May 2021.

Oksana Khmelyovska

Oksana Khmelyovska is a co-founder and editor-in-chief of Chytomo media (2009 - until now). She was working as a journalist and editor of the TVprograms Book.ua, RROdesign, head of the press department of Lviv Book Forum, journalist of Tyzhden.ua, and manager of the Krytyka Publishing House. She founded and organized the festival of young publishers and editors Gutenberg Assault Squads, held in 2010-2012 in Kyiv. Since 2015, she has been an assistant for the international Book Arsenal festival, and from 2016 to 2019 - she was the curator of the whole festival; currently, she is the curator of the professional development programs of the festival. Oksana joined the team of Ukrainian stand coordinators at the book fairs in Frankfurt, Bologna, Prague, Paris, the London, a member of the delegations representing Ukraine at the international book exhibitions (Frankfurt, Bologna, Montreal, Beirut, Vilnius, Tbilisi). She is a member of working groups for developing the book publishing industry at state departments and cultural institutions, the jury in various book contests, and the coordinator of the Ukrainian best book design contest. She is also a European Network for Literary Translation (ENLIT) member from Ukraine.

Pauline Fan is a writer, literary translator, and creative director of cultural organisation PUSAKA. She is director of the George Town Literary Festival, Malaysia's largest international festival of literature. Her translation of poems by Sarawak poet Kulleh Grasi, Tell Me, Kenyalang (Circumference Books, 2019), was shortlisted in the United States for the 2020 National Translation Award in Poetry, and longlisted for the Best Translated Book Awards 2020. Pauline’s literary translations from German to Malay include works by Immanuel Kant, Rainer Maria Rilke and Paul Celan. She is the Malaysia editor for the Berlin-based poetry archive and network, Lyrikline.

Porter Anderson (@Porter_Anderson) BA, MA, MFA, is Editor-in-Chief of Publishing Perspectives, the daily news medium of Frankfurter Buchmesse for the international publishing industry. Anderson is a veteran newsman with CNN, CNN.com, and CNN International–as well as the Village Voice, the Dallas Times Herald, The Bookseller and others. He was named London Book Fair’s International Trade Press Journalist in the 2019 International Excellence Awards. In addition to his career in news, Anderson has worked as a diplomat with the United Nations, posted to the Rome headquarters of the World Food Programme. He has also served as Executive Media Producer of INDEX: Design to Improve life, the Danish award for humanitarian design under the patronage of HRH Frederik, Prince of Denmark. Richard Charkin

Richard Charkin is a former president of the IPA, the UK PA, The Book Society and for 11 years was executive director of Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and non-executive director of Institute of Physics Publishing for more than twenty years. He has held many senior posts at major publishing houses, including Macmillan, Oxford University Press, Current Science Group, and Reed Elsevier. He is Vice-chair of Bloomsbury China’s Beijing joint venture with China Youth Press, and a member of the International Advisory Board of the Frankfurt Book Fair. He is a non-executive director of Bonnier Books UK, Liverpool University Press, and Cricket Properties as well as founding his own business, Mensch Publishing. Sandra Tamele

Sandra Tamele is the Founder Editor of Editora Trinta Zero Nove, the first Mozambican publisher dedicated to literature in translation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture, and her love for arts and languages led her to be established as a successful interpreting and translation services provider. In 2007, she became the first Mozambican to publish literature in translation, and since 2015 she is committed to promoting literary translation among young Mozambicans by hosting an annual competition that led to the establishment of the Publishing House, and in 2021 was awarded the London Book Fair International Excellence for Literary Translation Initiatives. Her start-up publisher gives voice to debut, black, female authors and writers with disabilities, it is spearheading the publication of audiobooks in the country and has developed an impressive catalogue, grown from three titles and one language in 2019 to over fifty titles and 7 languages today. A trailblazer in the PALOP with a growing distribution network through the African Books Collective (print and eBooks) and Akoobooks (audiobooks), and the only Publisher in the country with presence in the London, Frankfurt, Sharjah and Cairo Book Fairs.

Sandra has translated 17 novels and short stories collection, by renowned authors like the Nobel Prize Winner Wole Soyinka and Naguib Mahfouz. She is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Linguists, the founding member of the Mozambican Translator’s and Interpreters Association, and a member of the Portuguese to English Translators Association.

She is currently planning to open the first bookshop/community library in her hometown, Marracuene, a district with over 245 thousand people and 26 km drive from the capital city, Maputo.

For six years now he is director of the Dutch Association of Educational Publishers (GEU). The GEU is strongly involved in public-private cooperation, especially in facilitating a secure and reliable educational ecosystem.
For more than 25 years he has been an educational publisher. Stephan has executed several roles in the managing board of Noordhoff, the largest Dutch educational publisher. As publishing director he has been responsible for Primary, Secondary and Vocational Education.
After a study in mathematics the first 10 years of his career he worked as teacher and teacher trainer.

Trasvin Jittidecharak

Founder Silkworm Books

In 1991, Trasvin Jittidecharak founded Silkworm Books, a general independent publisher of English-language books on Thailand and Southeast Asia that she still runs today. In 2005, she set up the Mekong Press Foundation, funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, to support publishing activities and to establish a network of publishers in the Greater Mekong Subregion. In 2017, Trasvin launched the ASEAN Illustration Award and co-founded the International Children’s Content Rights Fair (ICCRF) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Between 1985 and 1994, Trasvin functioned as a book design and publishing resource for organizations at both national and regional levels. In addition to illustrating and designing several books herself, she has actively promoted adherence to copyright law in Thailand since 1989.

Trasvin served as an advisor to the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT; 2009–15 and 2019–21) and was a leading organizer of the Bangkok UNESCO World Book Capital City in 2013. She chaired the Organizing Committee of the 30th International Publishers Association (IPA) Congress, Bangkok 2015, and sat on the Executive Committee of the International Publishers Association from 2012 to 2017. Trasvin was appointed Secretary-General of the ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA), 2020–21. She was a member of the IPA’s Freedom to Publish Committee between 2017 and 2021 and was reelected for 2022-23.

Prof Zakri Abdul Hamid is currently the Chairman of Atri Advisory. He spearheads the Wyss
Foundation and National Geographic’s Campaign for Nature 30x30 initiative in the ASEAN
region as Ambassador and Science Advisor, and was recently re-appointed as the Joint-Chair
of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT).

Prof Zakri was a member of the prestigious Scientific Advisory Board to the UN Secretary-
General Ban Ki-moon and former Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia (2010–
2018). He was an expert in the Malaysian delegation for the Convention on Biological
Diversity (CBD) signed during the 1992 Earth Summit, and was the Chair of the CBD’s
Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (1997 – 1998), and the co-
Chair of the 2005 UN Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA).

Prof Zakri was the Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies at the United Nations
University (UNU-IAS) in Tokyo, Japan (2001 – 2008), and contributed towards the setting up
of the UN SDGs. He inspired and initiated the landmark Japan Satoyama Satoumi Assessment
(JSSA), a joint effort between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the UNU-IAS,
and was elected as founding Chair of the subsequently established UN Intergovernmental
Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). He was also a
member of the Global Leadership Council of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions
Network (SDSN) during the run-up to the 2015 UN Summit.

Prof Zakri currently also Chairs the pilot Southeast Asia Science Advice Network (SEA SAN)
by the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA), where he was a
founding member. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Multimedia University Malaysia, and the
Chairman for the Business Council for Sustainable Development Malaysia.
